A lifelong advocate for public education and equitable access for students, Hector Camacho has been a leader in advancing inclusive and innovative practices in schools and the county. He has been a frequent presenter to elected officials, educators, and the community on issues of equity and access, the digital divide, and the power of data to inform best practices. Hector currently serves as a trustee on the San Mateo County Board of Education representing South San Francisco and San Bruno. He was appointed to the county’s COVID-19 Equity Recovery Group to ensure that the most marginalized and disproportionately impacted in the community are prioritized in the response to the pandemic.
A proud graduate of South San Francisco High School, Hector went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America and a master’s degree from Stanford University. Professionally, he has worked as a bilingual aide, classroom teacher, guidance counselor, and school administrator. He currently resides in Westborough with his wife and two children.
